Grey and Yellow Chevron quilt Completed!!

So, if you follow me on Instagram (HillsCass if you want to add me), you would have gotten a sneak peak at my finally completed quilt! It was a bit of a marathon day on Thursday sewing the binding strip on, especially as it wasn’t without it’s mishaps – discovering that I had miscalculated and was about 10 inches short and had to add a strip on the fly….. then getting a stray pin jammed in my feed dogs and nearly ripping a hole in my quilt trying to get it out.

However with a lot of caffeine and patience, it is finally finished. I am going to wash it, it needs softening up to be a proper lounge quilt, and I’m quite excited to see how it crinkles up along the quilting lines. However, here it is in all it’s glory.

I’m pretty happy with how the pieced backing turned out – although it was a squeak too small and next time I will make it huge compared to the top just to be safe…..

I must make a special mention of Rita at Red Pepper Quilts, without whose binding tutorial this quilt would definitely still be in the WIP pile. She also has an awesome Etsy shop with patterns and finished quilts, although they often don’t last long before they are snapped up. I have plans for one of my future quilts using her Rail Fence pattern.

Yes, there will be another quilt, but just not immediately. Have a few other sewing projects that are getting impatient on the back burner first, and then we will see.Happy Crafting - Cassie.

Lovely! I’m always intrigued by how much quilting improves the look of a top that looked fine as soon as it was pieced. I also like your back. I like looking at pieced backs–have only made one once when I didn’t have enough fabric. By the time I get the top finished, I don’t have energy to piece the back. Maybe I should change that attitude.
