Bee updates for September

Well, I hate to use a cliche, but isn’t this year just whizzing by? I can’t believe we are already in September, and I am excited to show you some of the bee blocks that I’ve been making lately.

First we have the Aussie Modern Instabee…. my August block was the Triple Star. Bright colours with a fresh low volume grey background. It looks so modern. Can’t wait to see this one all together!

Followed by my September block, the Stacked Windmills. Emma asked for very specific colours, I went for the aqua, lime, orange and red based on what I had in my stash. It turned out fantastic!

They were both a lot of fun to make, but very labour intensive with all the cutting pieces. There is a Triple Star tutorial in the making, as some people have been having trouble with it.

Unfortunately I don’t yet have any August or September blocks received to show you, some of our lovely bee girls are running a bit behind. Life just keeps getting in the way!

However I have been busy sewing and making lovely blocks for my other bee, the Quilty Sisters Instabee.

First up in July I made a Cordelia’s Garden block for Vanessa. She requested florals in one colourway which stretched my stash a bit…. it turns out I don’t have many florals. Probably comes from my masculine household. The actual finished block, all sunny and happy is beautiful.

For August, I made these two Trellis Crossroads blocks for Fiona, recently featured in my Trellis Crossroads tutorial HERE if you missed seeing it.

And my September block, the most challenging one to date, is the String Circles Modern Bee block.

Lots and lots (and lots!) of pins, plus a whole heap of starch at the end, and I’ve got a block to be proud of. Kerry specified tangy citrus colours, and I think this fits the bill nicely!

There’s been lots of present sewing and crafting as well for and from my lovely Quility, but you will have to come back on Friday to check it all out!Happy Crafting - Cassie.
