I just wanted to share with you some more photos of my paper-pieced bee(s) that I have been making. As I mentioned previously, the pattern is a free download from Badskirt, although I did mess around with it a little in photoshop, chopping up the different sections and I think from memory I sized it up a little too.
This was my test run, and my first ever attempt at paper piecing! The family wasn’t convinced by the scrappy green background, despite the subtle inclusion of bees, hence the plain green I used for Vanessa’s bag.
I keep forgetting to embroider antennae on them, which would probably help them look more authentic!
If you like this bee, you should check out Quilts of a Feather where Renee just posted a gorgeous project using this block, on a blue background and turned it into a busy bee mini quilt, complete with flower garden!
Meanwhile, the bee at the top of the post is a little lonely, hanging up on my wall. Would you like to give him a good home? I am happy to make him into a special little zippy pouch for a random comment from this post…. just use the little rafflecopter below to enter!

This is wonderful! A great pattern. I’ve started to notice the inclusion of more bee fabrics into my stash of late… My favourite colour is red…. but for some reason I tend to work a lot in blues, greens and purples (with my every favourite black and white).

Your little bees are so adorable! You are such an inspiration to not be afraid of learning something new. If your bee flies my way, I will make sure he has plenty of flowers to enjoy.
