I’m the queen! QCA Stars bee update

For the month of August, I was a Queen, although if you ask my family, I’m sure they will tell you that I’m the queen of this house at least!

Inspired by the Triple star bee block that I made for Brenda, I asked for my paper pieced star blocks to have a solid grey background (any shade) and the star made of shades of blue, aqua, teal and ocean green.

Here is the rather dramatic sample block that I made during my paper piecing skype lesson with Libby. I had so much fun pulling out all the different fabrics for this block, I knew it would look fresh and fun.

These blocks are from Sue and Janine.

And taking my “ocean” theme to a whole new level were Katharine and Carlie.

I can’t imagine how long it took Katherine to perfectly position and fussy cut all those precious Tula Pink Octopus and Anchor prints. Wow.

I know that there are a couple more blocks made and on their way to me, however, I couldn’t resist a group shot to see how all these amazing blocks are going to work together!

This is going to be one pretty amazing quilt when it’s finished. Although with limited numbers in the bee, I’m not sure how big I might ever make it.

If you are Australian and interested in joining in the paper piecing fun, this round of bee blocks is nearly over. We’d love to have some new friends to play with or I’m afraid the bee might have to fold altogether. Check in on the Quilt Club Australia facebook group or leave me a comment for further information.

Andrea, I checked with the other girls and the consensus is that it would be ok. The only problem is that you would have to post a block to Australia every month, we only have to post one block each to you. If you are still interested, can you message Carlie Lincoln on Facebook, she’s co-ordinating the next round new additions now 🙂
