Quilty Sisters Instabee updates

Oh yes, a very long awaited bee update is here. To be honest, this is the worlds most longest, overdue bee, but my lovely quilty sisters are very patient and forgiving. So with only 2 parcels left for me to send out, I thought I would share with you some more creations that have been sent away.

These two are the my sweet parcels of love that were received by my friend Jess recently. I just love wrapping these gifts up and sending them off – full of fun and tissue paper and a bit of whimsy. It’s also a great way to use up my stash of paper and stickers.

Included in her parcel was this block from the Modern Bee book.

Jess had asked for blocks with any centre – many she had gotten included beautiful fussy-cut Tula Pink, so I couldn’t resist using this gorgeous fox in her favourite colour, purple. I loved keeping the colours consistent, with the aqua’s and the purple corners. Jess’ other requirements were the background and a tone on tone navy for the joining “plus” outer blocks.

I loved making this feather hoop art for Jess, again in her favourite colour with a variegated purple thread.

Other extras included were some stickers, a tea-towel, of course a handmade book and a few other trinkets.

Earlier this year I posted off another parcel overflowing with hugs to April…

The block April requested was the classic Trellis Crossroads – if you haven’t seen it before, I have a tutorial for it posted HERE.

Because April is all the way over in the US, I added in a little touch of home with her gift, using the Emma Jean Jansen Terra Australis line for a “Curvy Clutch.”

Keeping with the theme, I decorated with a platypus button, the classic bee charm and a little beaded zipper pull. Tucked inside was a little stash of chocolate, a strawberry pincushion and some other little adorable gifts.

Finally for this update is my parcel for the lovely Ash, who will be visiting us in August to attend the AMQF.

Ash also asked for the Trellis Crossroads block, only in her colours of Raspberry and Mint, as used in the classic Tula Pink Plume line. Her Mum, Julie, helped me out with a bit of fabric for this beautiful block, as I don’t have very much plume. However, I was happy to see how well the True Colours line worked with it.

I love a handmade card – this one using the 1″ Hexagon die for Sizzix and some scrapbooking paper which matched the colour scheme. A dob of glue for each piece, then stitched around using an old needle on the sewing machine – CLICK HERE for banner cards made in a similar method using fabric.

Also included in her parcel were 2 handmade books and a gorgeous little vintage looking French tin which would be perfect for keeping some emergency sewing supplies or notions organised.

From the feedback that I get on Instagram and else where, a lot of people have trouble with gift wrapping ideas – as you can see I have a bit of a “style” but if you would like to ask any questions on how to or where I get my supplies, please shout them out in the comments. If there is enough interest, I can add a tutorial or more detailed post into my future blogging calendar!
