Wow, has it really been a month since I showed you my progress on my Owls? At least, on the backgrounds for them… Mixed Media Monday

So, I have spent a couple of days painting, and turning these…

Although, as you can see from those very sad looking eyes up above, there was a fair amount of struggle in the birth of these three beautiful owls.

So, this week, I bought some more supplies, namely a translucent glazing medium, in the hopes that I could use some glazes or washes to tone down their distracting backgrounds somewhat.

Here is where they are currently. As things went on, 2 of them ended up with new colours  in their background entirely! They are still not entirely finished, but I’m really happy with where they are going!

I think my favourite is this last one, the shy owl who thinks that she is a butterfly… however DH is completely in love with number 1 above – he calls it my Indian owl. It certainly has some tribal aspects to it! Any way you look at them, they have all come to have such distinct personalities and are really special creations!Happy Crafting - Cassie.
