Green ripple crochet blanket finished!

Green…. from grass to mint and every shade in between can be really refreshing. DS1 chose green as “his” colour… accents in his bedroom, pencilcase, ruler etc. So when he got sick last year, and I was a little bit stressed and needed something to keep my hands and mind busy, I started his very own ripple crochet blanket, in green stripes. From the palest mint, to a forest green with a nice variegated shade in between.

Because I’ve made three rather large ones in the Attic 24 pattern previously (Here, here and here) I decided that I wanted to get adventurous and modify the design a bit. In my mind, I wanted steeper hills and valleys, which I achieved by increasing the number of stitches both increased and decreased, and the number of plain stitches in between. What I didn’t take into account was how much of a drastic change this would be to the starting row I made, which turned from a generous sized blanket to something a little narrower. The stitches also drew up a lot denser in this blanket, making it heavier but smaller. To counteract the narrowness of it, I added some straight double crochet stripes to either side, which finished things off beautifully. The last ends were sewn in on the weekend, and I have passed it on to it’s new owner.

Of course, Miss Coco would like that new owner to be her! But she can visit it on his bed every morning instead.

Coco is now 10 weeks old, and growing in size and confidence before our eyes. She has absolutely mastered sitting on command, she will sit inside or outside whatever door she wishes to go through, waiting patiently for it to be opened, will come when called (most of the time!) and immediately sits at your feet, and will sit waiting for your attention, to be picked up etc. Her leash training is going well, and we were working on the drop command this weekend. It helps that I have had some extensive dog training experience previously and that she is so smart and eager to please. Especially when food is on offer!

Our first coffee date, I chose a secluded coffee garden and she was beautifully behaved.

She is still seriously distressed by being closed into any room or her travel crate, regardless of if we are in the room with her or not, so we have her sleeping in a plastic crate by the bed, either in our room or DS2’s room when he doesn’t have school in the morning. She is waking once or so a night for a trip to the toilet but is definitely getting the hang of things. Otherwise we are all just hanging out, playing, napping, and trying to stay out of the heat. Her growing confidence means that we are pretty sure we will get over the door anxiety issues sooner rather than letting them get out of control.

I LOVE the colors you used! What yarn did you use for this afghan?

      Hi Theresa,

I’m sorry that I didn’t make it more obvious where I got the pattern from. If you put “Attic 24 neat ripple crochet pattern” in your search engine, you will find the blog which includes the pattern. Happy crafting! Cassandra
