Simply Retro challenge – April finish (almost)

posted in: Quilting, sewing | 5

So, as previously covered Sharon and I, along with a growing group of quilting friends, are making a quilt top a month from the book, Simply Retro. I chose Playground for April’s challenge, shown in this post here…

For the end of April I am pleased to say that we have a mostly finished top!! I had an accident with an unfinished block, which led to a kind quilter to the rescue with some replacement fabric. As well as that, I had under-guessed the sashing, and came up short by 2 rows.

However, that being said, what I did put together was not a small quilt top…. laid out on our dining table, which seats 8 for comparison…

Please excuse the unpressed state, I am waiting to attach my final 2 rows before giving it a good press. But I have to admit even like this, it’s a fabulous quilt top – I love the colour and movement created by the Pezzy print fabric, as well as the non-traditional solid grey background. You can see Sharon’s finished quilt here!

It’s fantastic to have another month nearly under my belt, and I have already been planning the quilting pattern that I’m going to try as I am feeling a bit braver with my free-motion quilting lately. Stay tuned, as May is already underway and my fabrics are waiting for me! But I’m determined to have this top finished first.Happy Crafting - Cassie.

This looks great, Cassie … so different to mine! I am so enjoying seeing how everyone ‘interprets’ the patten, such fun!!! 🙂
