Finish-a-long 2016, First Quarter

There’s nothing like having lofty goals, and I love the encouragement of putting them out there – not to mention the awesome prizes that are on offer for this year’s Finish-a-long.

FAL 2016

There are so many more hosts and rewards for finishing some projects this year, they even have created an Instagram account to help keep us motivated.

My list is pretty extensive this quarter, as some of these are getting rather old. I really want them finished so I can put my time and energy toward some new and exciting projects. Not to mention, a finish just feels awesome!

Yes, you have seen some of these before *blush*, they were included last time I wrote this list! Here are 6 quilt tops in mostly completed states, and 2 fully planned quilts yet to be cut.

Reading from bottom to top, there is my Kate Spain Daydream Metro Twist quilt, which was completely pieced, but I am not happy with how small it has turned out, so a border, or two, is needed.

Next up is my scrappy ASD quilt which needs quilting.

My Aussie Modern Instabee quilt, made using all my Trellis crossroads blocks has been pieced, but I stalled making a backing for it because I needed to include a missing signature block. Time to get that sorted out!

Pretty in bright pink is my Simply Retro Vintage quilt top – which STILL needs 2 sides of the last border put on, and then quilting! I really hated this quilt by the end of making it, I will be so glad to just get it finished!

Above that in grey and primary Pezzy prints is another Simply Retro challenge quilt – again, just needing some inspiration in the quilting department!

Peeking out at the top of the quilt top pile is a secret unblogged quilt project that has been patiently waiting it’s turn for about oh, 15 months. Time to finish it off!

To the right of this pile is my gorgeous Lush Uptown jelly roll, paired with a gorgeous rust background. This is destined for a fabulous Fancy Fox quilt, and I am pretty sure it’s the perfect pairing!

Finally, at the very top of the pile is my reward for all my hard work – a stack of luscious Joel Dewberry Aviary prints, complete with the perfect shade of teal/aqua background. I even have the perfect quilt pattern paired with them – printed out ready for cutting!

Quatro by Keera Job of Live.Love.Sew and another talented Australian pattern designer. This pattern is just perfectly formal enough for the Aviary, with it’s traditional motifs, and large enough to show off the beautiful print patterns as well.

Are you playing along too? How’s your WIP pile looking?

Thanks Hope 🙂 I think I am using a scatter-gun approach, if I list enough projects, surely I can get at least one finished! I think I have definitely shamed myself into finishing some of those older tops, I am sure they have marinated long enough 😉

That quilt pattern is awesome and paired with the Joel Dewberry fabric it’s going to be beautiful!! Can hardly wait to see your progress. I have a quilt top that I was working on for my mom so I have to get back to that one day soon. I’ve been warming up by starting (and completing haha) some smaller projects. 🙂

Completing anything is a fabulous start Melissa! I need a “reward” system so that I can get through the boring or repetitive parts of a project. Quatro is definitely my reward this quarter!
