All Over the Octagon – adventures in EPP part 1

If you’ve been to my blog before, you may remember me talking about the new Sue Daley Patchwork with Busy Fingers “All over the Octagon” BOM. It’s been a few weeks since we started, but I have been taking some time to be very intentional in my selection of fabrics, designs and fussy cutting. Today I would love to share with you the results, which will spill over into my next blog post discussing what thread I use, why, and how it is possible to have seamless results from your English Paper Piecing.

These 5 blocks have been created from only 3 of the possible shapes that will be released through the year long BOM. You can see that it is also possible to mix and match between the shapes to make a unique octagon. All of these blocks are made from the Riley Blake fabrics provided in the BOM packs. I love the variety of prints and colours that I am getting to play with.

If that wasn’t enough inspiration, the team at Millhouse Collections/Patchwork with Busy Fingers put together this awesome video showing you some of the amazing ways you can make an octagon. I can’t wait to keep building on my collection, and have some fun creating intricate designs from fabric and paper!

Would anyone be interested in seeing some “in process” photos on how I choose and achieve my fussy cutting? Let me know, and I will get started preparing something for you! If you want to make sure you don’t miss out, you can follow me on bloglovin’ or subscribe to my blog via email on the right there (just under my smiling face) and you will get a notice anytime I post something new!

Please do a tutorial. I’m completely new at this EPP, and the fussy cutting looks complicated with those seams.

Thanks for the vote Cindy! I am definitely planning one, just need to work out the step by step details and take some (ok, lots) of pictures! My process is actually really simple, I hope that it will help you and make it less stressful.
