Cassie’s La Passacaglia – seventh update

I feel like I am getting to a key part of my La Passacaglia quilt with this update. I am working hard on layouts and thus choosing colours and arranging rosettes to fill in the gaps between what I have already created. These three cogs have all be made specifically for certain places, although I am having a bit of trouble finding new colours to use and keeping from using similar ones too close to each other.

You may recognise the rosette above as the one that I created during my fussy cutting tutorial.

Those fussy cutting skills were put to more use for the other two rosettes I’m sharing today, as they are almost completely based around it.

This lilac cog was a lot of fun to plan, using colours that never worked with either pink or purple because they were such a unique mixture of them both. I truly love the flowery star centre that I created, it was satisfying to see it come together as I had planned it.

I was disappointed I couldn’t quite get the “lattice” effect of the outer pentagon ring in this orange rosette. The stripes just wouldn’t quite line up for me, however, at a distance the overall effect is very striking. i also love the Anna Maria Horner flower in the centre.

I am trying to put attention to all details into every cog I make, so that it will not only be part of the overall quilt, but provide many points of interest within the quilt. If you are interested in my previous pieces, you can see them all HERE.
