I haven’t been able to spend much time at my sewing machine lately, as Winnie and Juicy Quilting have been demanding a lot of attention. But last week when I was rather unwell, I decided to designate it as selfish sewing week.
Using my planned bundle of Aviary, you may remember that I listed this in my First Quarter finishes back in January. I guess the joke is on the other foot today, however, I am very glad to be making progress.
The progress was definitely slow, partly because I was feeling way under the weather, and also because at the last minute I decided that most of the different fabrics required fussy cutting or at the very least, directional cutting as in the case of the woodgrain and the quatrefoil tile type print.
It was definitely worth the extra time it took to slow down and make this effort. I would have seriously been kicking myself later if I hadn’t. Although now I have still over 20 blocks all cut waiting to be sewn up, even with chain piecing I’m going to be a busy girl.
Tell me – what’s on your design wall this month?

I have just pulled fabric to do this same pattern. I haven’t cut into it yet because I have a couple sewing jobs to do for people first. But it is my next selfish sewing project.

You should really enjoy it Lindy, it’s a well written pattern and great for a quick chain piece ☺
