I have joined with with Lindsey Rhodes to support independent pattern designers this month of May. She has launched a fabulous campaign called “May is for Makers”, where each week you buy a pattern to support a designer. As Lindsey explains on her blog, we are telling the pattern designers that their work matters to us.
You can see her original post by clicking the button above, or going to her blog HERE.
I would like to share with you the first two patterns that I have purchased. I am trying to support a different designer and if possible, a different aspect of the industry each week.
Last week I bought a paper piecing pattern from Juliet of Tartankiwi Patterns
This week’s purchase is of a new bag pattern, which I am rather excited to try. Blue Calla is a designer that is new to me and I fell in love with her Boronia Bowler Bag.
I love the size and shape, the fact that it closes completely with a zip and has both handles and a shoulder strap. The design is perfect for showing off a feature print, as shown in the sample bags sewn by her pattern testers.
I am looking forward to finding some new patterns and designers to support for the next 3 weeks in May.
I would love to hear your suggestions for what other purchases I can make – let me know in the comments what you are loving at the moment, and if you are joining in with Lindsay to support our hard-working designers and makers!
