We have survived the first few days back at school. Although they only went for 3 days, so I’m not sure if that counts as survival or not. This week will be a bigger test of them!
Of course, after such a spectacular summer so far, with several days over 40, the day for going back to school dawned grey, cold and miserable. So glad that I got DS2’s entire school wardrobe for the year in one hit, so we weren’t worrying about him freezing already!
Thankfully, DS1, despite being taller than his father now, is juuuussstttt still stretching out the same uniform we bought him 2 years ago. At least it’s good quality clothing and isn’t showing the wear. It’s always better to buy a little bigger with the boys 😉
Here he is, being too cool for school photos! A great big Year 10 this year, and starting to realise that he’d better make the most of it because things are starting to get serious!
Of course, I had to ask for a photo of the two of them together, finally at the same school again after 2 years apart.
Ahhh, brotherly love. Ain’t it grand!
Thanks to implementing a rigorous system of organisation over the last few years, this week has gone very smoothly. However, a quick trip to Ikea this Saturday and now DS2 has a full-sized bookcase for his rather large collection of magazines and books, and has somewhere to store all together his school books.
I’ve really been on a fabulous organisation kick in his room over the holidays. All his old primary school uniforms were either tossed (holes in the knees!) or sent off to the op-shop. 2 huge bags full of clothes in the end. We also bought him all new socks and jocks ready for his fresh start in High School.
Everything is tidy for now, which I find makes it so much easier for the kids to keep it going. They pack their bags and lunches the night before school, and having everything so organised and ready to go really makes the mornings stress free, which is a good thing when you leave for the bus at 7.30 in the morning. It’s a long day!
And how’s he going with his first forays into High School?
Pretty good I’d say. And that’s good news all round!

Cassie, you sound super organized!
Shall I let you in on a little secret? Before you even have time to blink, these beautiful boys of yours will be through high school, and you won’t ever have to do the ‘let’s get ready for school’ thing again! Tash and I are enjoying walking past shoe shops, realizing we won’t ever have to buy expensive school shoes for long narrow feet again! It’s a great feeling … 😉

I’ve loved watching Tash grow up over the years. It’s amazing to think how quick it goes!!
