Wow, has it really been a month since I showed you my progress on my Owls? At least, on the backgrounds for them… Mixed Media Monday
So, I have spent a couple of days painting, and turning these…
Although, as you can see from those very sad looking eyes up above, there was a fair amount of struggle in the birth of these three beautiful owls.
So, this week, I bought some more supplies, namely a translucent glazing medium, in the hopes that I could use some glazes or washes to tone down their distracting backgrounds somewhat.
Here is where they are currently. As things went on, 2 of them ended up with new colours in their background entirely! They are still not entirely finished, but I’m really happy with where they are going!
I think my favourite is this last one, the shy owl who thinks that she is a butterfly… however DH is completely in love with number 1 above – he calls it my Indian owl. It certainly has some tribal aspects to it! Any way you look at them, they have all come to have such distinct personalities and are really special creations!

I absolutely adore your owls Cassandra, I think the last one is my fav as well, she’s just so cute!! 🙂
I think number three would get my vote too, though they are all terrific!
Absolutely fantastic, I like the second one with the clouds. You are a true artistic genius.

[…] Again, they are wild and crazy and colourful, and not really like Juliette Crane’s work at all, but that’s ok because they are uniquely mine! They still need a bit more work and embellishing, but it was a very productive, and therapeutic, afternoon of painting. […]
