Paper piecing and madness

I have been busy sewing on and off, as much as the little four legged munchkins allow me….

Unfortunately most of it is secret sewing, surprises for various friends and swap/bee buddies and I can’t share it with you yet!

I have been busy learning paper-piecing. With a little help from Craftsy…. Particularly the Carol Doak class Mastering Foundation Paper Piecing Quilting classes on sale here…..

I would like to say it’s easier than I thought it would be but that would be fibbing. Instead of easing myself into it using Carol’s patterns with neat measurements and all, I decided to use a pattern that I had to work out all for myself! Apart from a fair amount of unpicking and a bit of wasted fabric, I still had fun and got addicted!

The Tartankiwi

The Tartankiwi has announced this fabulous challenge to create a butterfly (or two) from her pattern. Closes the end of the month, and if you’re not confident with Paper Piecing she has been posting some great tutorials on everything from the very basics to how to change a pattern or piece tricky diagonals!

I’m got my pattern all printed out and am plotting color schemes. The prizes she is offering are definitely worth winning, so be brave and give it a try!Happy Crafting - Cassie.

Michelle, you should! There are heaps of tutorials and help around and it’s much easier than it looks. If I can do it, I’m sure you can!
