I was able to spend the day on Friday at home, enjoying some winter sunshine and got my craft on just a little bit. First up is this funky painted monogram. I had bought these wooden letters for the DS’s rooms about a million years ago. We’ve moved house with them twice, that’s how long it’s been. They just don’t have room for their full names, so I decided to steal one of the letters for our surname, to add to my front hall display.
Stage one, after attempting to sand some of the edges smooth, was a gesso undercoat.
Followed by a couple of white acrylic craft paint coats.
Finally, using a plastic stencil, over the raised area of the letter with this lovely blue colour.
Couple of coats of spray varnish and it’s all done!
(Cute little snail puzzle created by my Dad and painted by my Mum many years ago).
Next up on the craft table was making this little bag…..
I have scored heaps of upholstery/decor fabric samples from our local thrift shop lately, for just such a project. Some quilting cotton for a lining, and a vintage zip for the top, and we are all finished! Isn’t it totally cute?
I’ve used it for putting my little daily art journal, some coloured pencils and some graphite pencils, so I can try to make my journalling a little more “daily”.
Happily in the mail today I also got this….
so I am going to curl up in the last of the sunshine before the weather changes tomorrow and start reading.
Garden and backyard update to come tomorrow!
